A pioneer in the Malaysian skincare and beauty industry, Professor Datin Dr. Clara Chee is synonymous with her empire, the Clara International Beauty Group, a global player in the aesthetic industry.
Her interest in beauty therapy took her abroad to study medicinal and skincare formulation and aesthetic management in the London Beauty Clinic. She obtained her degree in Science from the University of Missouri, USA and later went to the University of De Monfort United Kingdom for research into Medicinal & Cosmetic Products and Technology. In 1996 she obtained her PhD in Cosmetic Science and Technology from the Pacific Western University USA.
Starting her career as a beautician for several international brands, Professor Datin Dr. Clara Chee soon realized that these brands were unsuitable for the Malaysian & Asian skin. She began her own formulation in a salon in Petaling Jaya. Today, the Clara International skincare products have been awarded numerous awards including Best Brands and Industry Excellence Award. Currently, Clara International has a manufacturing plant in Selangor, Malaysia and another in Shenyang, China.
Professor Datin Dr. Clara Chee’s dedication in sharing her knowledge inspired the launch of the Clara International Aesthetic Academy in 1979. Clara International has also more than 50 branches in Malaysia, Brunei, Dubai, Philippines, India, Thailand and China.
Professor Datin Dr. Clara Chee sits on numerous boards in our country such as in the Ministry of Health, Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, MIGHT and CIDESCO International.
